He should have gone over the top of Pidcock, when he bridged. I was surprised he didn't keep going at that point.

He didn't want to get in the same situation as yesterday where he went at 5km from the finish and then didn't have enough for the sprint. He rather see it play out and sprint.

Yeah, MVDP was hiding on the descent and the flat but closed down the final Pidcock attack super easy and won the sprint by a couple of bike lengths. No way he was cooked, he just expected everyone to ride for him as usual.

Teams with multiple riders seem to have forgotten how to ride the final with a reduced peleton. Surely you need to have one rider sacrifice for the other. Not for the first time a solo rider has survived a final when this should not have occurred.

Everyone knows Van der Poel cleans it up, and Van der Poel didn't have a teammate.
