The Giro this year is not straight forward. Much more difficult to control than the tour imo. Still I expect Sky will be much stronger in the Giro.

Would be funny if Froome takes back 29" from Nibali, Sky will be kicking themselves for putting up such a weak TTT squad. I don't see Froome taking more than 15" though, so pretty much Nibali's the champion.

Are you serious? Acquarone is a nice guy, but damned if I can understand how, in a country with Italy's rich cycling history, they let a guy like that have so much power over the racing.

An Italian wins today, and that is a problem? What happened to the old days of pulling tricks with the helicopters to help Italians win the Giro?

Of course he doesn't realise that all the rouleurs DNF no matter how hard the stage is, last year there were 30 who quit either on Stage 6 or didn't start the TT. I actually think it works this way so that they get some stages early on and don't have to ride the hard ones which may jeopardise M-SR for them.

Agreed. Having sagan there was extremely useful for them since sagan has lots of power on the flat. If the contador group had one non-climber too then they could have got help on the flat. That group was cooked near the end coz the four riders there were all light weight climbers who aren't really powerful on flats.

Funny how things work out here doesn't it? I've even noticed a self-confessed Contador die-hard supporter, who has been so depressed over Contador's loss of form, gushing in happiness all over Nibali's win and not noticing that Contador has fallen off the podium...

Hard for me to understand how you can't like Nibs as a rider. He's competitive year-round in GTs, shorter stage races, one days, and he's willing to attack on a climb, on the flat, and on the descent. Plus he's one of the very few GC guys who really tries to win MSR every year. Class rider.

I don't really see anyone hating on Nibali, everyone probably respects him for his traits that you have mentioned. The only thing missing from Nibali has been results, as he has frequently been losing time to all his rivals in MTFs. Today however he has shown that with the right conditions he can put in an excellent fight to win stage races even against supposed better GC contenders.

What sensible tactics are you talking about? Controlling the race from A to B with a train and then their leader finishing the job?

That only works when your entire team has exceptional form. The truth is Sky is probably the dumbest WT team out there concerning tactics(not to be confused with strategy). We've seen it numerous times already in both Grand Tours, but especially classics. They're like the Roman army, just throw enough man power against it and you'll win eventually.
