If the FAA says you can't fly, then you can't fly...ToC has no control of that. Not sure what type of aircraft they use for the broadcast, to relay motorbike video, but I guess the FAA says no flying over neighborhoods, in "bad" weather.

the dutch managed to get permission to fly when the ash clowd was over holland and belgium.. im sure the organisers could have managed something, its not like they didnt know it was going to rain, and if they cant, frankly they shouldnt be organising races

The 4th Grand Tour is a complete tv no show!
Can't deal with a bit of rain.
Eurosport on, but live coverage cancelled. On and off in 2 minutes.
The 1st Grand Farce more like.
Pathetic.
Haha, where is our friend Polish now? With his jabs at the Giro.

ToC can't even handle a bit of rain. In Italy they even showed pictures in thick fog.

Velonews ticker is reporting that Cav may have been dropped on Oakville Grade. No surprises there, I'm actually kind of glad that the pace has risen above training ride levels.

So I tuned into todays coverage (or I should say 'coverage'). Anyone seen an actual rider riding yet?

All I've seen is LA downing watery bear and Bottle shilling for human dog tags.

Epic failure imho. I stayed up for this?

Yes

Official word is the FAA won't allow the plane to fly. It's icy at 10,000ft.
And yet Holland can get permission to fly during volcanic ash.

Just off the Eurosport ticker:

"Tour of California: Broadcast of today's stage is impossible due to weather conditions"

Doesn't look like we're going to get anything today after all boys (despite hints and suggestions to the contrary). ToC fucks cycling fans worldwide... Especially all the late-night European fans eager to see this dapper young American upstart to the GT battle.

It does rain, but it's more a sprinkle than a downpour from the finish line shots.

Ah, they're explaining lead out trains now. I hope Greipel watches.

I think the next move is to move this race to June. Hardly ever rains in Northern California during June.

or july and go up against the tour de france.. imagine it, the two greatest races in the world on at the same time..
