Whatever about Tom D doping, comparing him to Lance is just hyperbole. He is nowhere near as bad as Lance, very few are. Period. Making the choice to do something that most others were already doing is one thing, that would put him on a level with Lance. Pimping out cancer and bullying people amongst other BS puts Lance on another planet altogether. There are very few pro cyclists who will ever reach planet Lance.

You seemed more ****ed that Tom D sold out on Lance than the fact he was a doper. I guess the likes of Ekimov, Bruyneel et al appeal more to you.

I'm not at all PO'ed what Tommy D did to Lance. Sorry if my post was not clear about that. My point is TD profited from doping. He sold out LA. If LA had it coming well so be it. But TD went on to make more $. He is NO SAINT. He pedaled the clean generation act at Garmin and continues to profit from it. LA is/was an @55. OK. But TD is till making that $. And he only confessed to save his ****. And continue to make $.
He got heckled, get over it TD. You are still getting $. Or go pump gas.

LA will/is paying for his past. TD is still GETTING PAID. That is my point. Sorry if my point was not clear originally.
Peace Bro

Something is getting lost in translation.

Hook, you made a statement that implied that Tom was "no better" than Lance.

pmcg was pointing out that Tommy's transgressions were not even in the same league as Lance's. Lance's were much, much worse.

You then made some reference about something that Tommy may have "done" to Lance?

Funny. I distinctly remembering Lance's comments about Danielson after he visited Austin, which were something along the lines of, " He'll never make it. His hips are too narrow".

Seriously. He said that. Then hired Tom for Discovery a while later.

My impression is that TD is no more talented then mr.gunderson. Both relied on PEDs to succeed.
I'd prefer that Danielson not be allowed to compete, and reckon he deserves the heckling.

Peace.
Is it true that Lance actually tried to auction him off at one point?

It's not like the good old days anymore. :(

DanielsonCheyenneCanyon-vi.jpg

Blazing to the top of Cheyenne Canyon in Colorado Springs, Colorado in just 13:34, Discovery Channel professional cyclist Tom Danielson established a new unofficial record for the 3.1-mile ascent that gains just over 1,200 feet in elevation. The mark shattered the times held by American cycling greats Lance Armstrong and Tyler Hamilton, who both took 14 minutes and change to reach the top.

Date: 6/28/2006 :)

What's 365m over 5km (7.3%) in 13:34 like in terms of VAM or W/kg?

In terms of VAM and w/kg it's like...basic math for the former and intermediate for the latter.

TD is one of the douchiest of all-time from multiple accounts of those that lived with his ex-wife. And I'm sure that's a reliable source right, I mean who's ex isn't?

Very helpful. Good on you champ.

why else do you think a pro cyclist, or any athlete for that matter, may not want retroactive testing?
keep the skeletons in their closet, no?

Why do you hate Tommy D?:D

Everyone doped! So Tommy, having no other life choices, at all, anywhere, like choosing between prison or cycling dopes. He's sorry for that one time winning on the dope, but you haters got to stop living in the past. Blah. Blah. Blah.

VAM - 60/13.566*365=1614 - pretty high for a 7.3% grade with an avg elevation of nearly 7000'.

the w/kg (body weight only) would be about 5.97 (358 watts), assuming TD was 60kg, had 8.5kg of bike/gear with him, rolling resistance of .005, cda/cxa of .325, air density of about .97kg/m^3 and no appreciable wind.

figure there is about 8-10% loss of aerobic power at 7000' vs sea-level. he probably had about 40ish watts coming from anaerobic sources and 320ish from aerobic. at sea level he'd probably do about another 30ish watts so maybe 390 watts, or 6.5w/kg. it's nothing too crazy really. he was probably about 10% stronger than that when topped off.

 ehh??

my comments had nothing to do with him...

.

This is Lance parroting one of Ferrari's lines.

Ferrari loves spewing various invented data points that make it seem like he studies, and has the answers, to everything. Makes it easier for his riders to pretend that they are getting faster because of his "advanced training methods" and not his pharmacy.

lance's hips are in fact quite narrow, like contador's as well.
are TD's hips even more narrow than lance's?

i wouldn't know what the (dis)advantages of narrow hips could be.

in sports where physical athleticism is priority over endurance like tennis and soccer you hardly see any athletes with narrow hips.

in cycling i reckon it's a relatively irrelevant parameter, but i could be wrong.

Lance has the narrowist hips of any cyclist in history, along with the largest heart and the longest thighs, didn't you know?

I read a rumor on the internet that the UCI were considering implementing a new hip-width regulation. They did some beta testing a few years back.

Notice how tense and nervous the bystanders are?

Will Tommy D. be allowed to race?

Are his hips...wide enough?
