He wears the yellow jersey and it does mean something. He shouldn't have gone after Andy at Col d'Izoard, and shouldn't have led the peloton on Galibier alone. But he should have helped Cadel, even if it would have been only 10% of time spent on the front of the peloton on Galibier, but he didn't even try, imo it's disrespectful. Every time he tells "I'm not a contender", "I'm not a contender" and thinks that it justifies his yesterday's wheelsucking. Of course you can call it "an intelligent race" but I call it a cheat. I'm sick of it.. Now he is the real contender for the podium, but if he wants to achieve this riding the way he did yesterday, I hope he'll finish fourth, it would be fair.
That's a real BS, my friend

To be honest, I don't think your respect is worth earning. You appear to have been watching with one eye shut.

Some top notch clowns on here. Voeckler was at the absolute limit all the way up the Galibier, when he knew he had a chance of keeping yellow he put Rolland on the front, and it showed you him calling him back because he couldnt follow. This is a man who beat contador, cunego, sanchez etc. up a climb. why the hate? he has been incredible. P.S. How steep were those last 500m?

Absolutely. Heck, I hardly knew who he was before this, but he's on my hero list now.

Apart from backing the underdog, what's with all this Tommy V love? FFS, he got in a good break, and has since spent the whole the time sucking wheels. If it weren't for BMC, Voeckler would be NOWHERE by now.

I don't hate Voeckler, he is a strong rider, he was really impressive in this tour, especially at Plateau de Beille but can't understand how his yesterday's performance can be called "great" or so

Yeah, he was on the rivet all the way up Galibier. But it's his performance in the valley before that counts, and that was spineless and dimwitted. A number of times, Rolland tried to come to the front and help with the pacemaking, and each time Voeckler pulled him back.
If Europcar, Saxo and Eskaltel had sacrificed the domestiques they had on the flat (the way Schleck and Evans did), Andy Schleck would have gone into the climb with a 2 minute advantage and made it to the line with 5 seconds on Evans, hand in hand with big bro. None of the relative positions in the MJ group would have changed at all.
Voeckler just destroyed his own chance of winning, and now likely won't even podium (unless Evans cracks on Alpe and TV doesn't).

Geez, I'm going to have to get myself an ACF Avatar!

Because he pushed himself beyond his previous limits.

Just like Goku did a couple of times every other saga :p

But yes, Voeckler knows how to suffer, but mostly he's looking for stage wins, not the GC. So he often takes it easy on mountain stages

What I've noticed this Tour is that no one in the peloton likes Voeckler. Karsten kroon called him an arrogant ******bag. I share that opinion after his pathetic performance yesterday and during the whole Tour.

I think Pineau is one that does (like Voeckler, that is).
They've been team mates for many years; Voeckler got into his first Tour (2003) only as a last-minute replacement for Pineau. In the 2003 Clásica Almería, both crossed the finish line together - and Voeckler stepped down to let Pineau take the victory.

What baffled me was Flecha apparently pacing Voeckler for some time yesterday. Was it indeed Flecha deliberately pacing the rider he's called out 2 weeks earlier, or was it Voeckler sucking wheel and then dumping the Spaniard?

yeah he's like riccardo ricco in the peloton.klodi hates him too like most of the guys.

i enjoyed his superformances but i've never seen something dumber than his move in the red on alberto and andy's wheel.you all know that if voeckler would have stayed with cadel and frank,he wouldn't have bonked.for sure, the yellow would have been still his.

anyone remarked how surprised was when he bonked?he started screaming at the teammates, smashing bottles on the asphalt.like it should never happened.
i've never seen someone flying like voeckler to andy and alberto since a long time ago.he bonked big time because he was way over confident.
i'm curious what he can do next year.

If the peloton dont like Voeckler well hell i do then.

anyone who swims against the omerta is good guy in my book.

Excellent point, well made. Me too.

I have also enjoyed his interviews where he has been cheerful and forthcoming, fulsome in praise of others etc. He seemed genuinely delighted for Rolland yesterday (as he should have been). He seems the antithesis of the taciturn and surly Cadel or the moany Schlecks.

Like it or not, Voeckler has played a large part in making this tour memorable...and I have encountered quite a few "casual observers" who have taken a keener interest in the Tour this year as a consequence of his adventure.

I think Flecha was pacing indeed, but I also didnt have a clue why, I really wasnt happy with it :p.

He also blamed the French TV crew for motorpacing Contador when he was in the chasse patat.

Insulting his team mates for not falling back fast enough, throwing bottles on the ground, screaming and yelling when it didn't go his way... I think he showed his true personality

he showed some human instincts, which makes him more human that most of the robots in the peloton. Passion and anger while competing in his home tour. why not. can think of lots of worse things
