So don't you think then that the more logical explanation would be that Velits also suffered from being used in the train and therefore the 'excuse' is actually a valid reason as to why they struggled?_?

This is getting a bit weird.

Velits rode to the level most expected, rather than struggled. Yes the train added burden but Velits still did a better GC than Tony.

Tony should just stick to what is designed for.- ITT and Week long stage races with a long ITT.

Before the mountains, Martin did an added total of maybe 1 kilometer of leadout work. That excuse doesn't fly anymore.

He could maybe do a good Tour GC if all finishes are on climbs like La Toussuire and Station des Rousses.

This is getting weird, I seem to be defending a rider who as I already said I don't think is a real contender but I do believe would do a lot better if he didn't have to work so hard in the htc train.

Anyway, in reply, yes I think Velits would also improve if he wasn't also part of said train.

ullrich worked in zabels train for many years and was still top 5 material in the tdf

Why would you make an Ullrich comparison? would you really put Tony Martin up there?_?

again with the flying excuses! :p it's a reason and I believe a valid one but then I never said that Martin would have done as well as Velits anyway?_?

No Eisel on the High Road train so the chance is huge they win the TTT:D:)
So maybe Tony will get the golden jersey on stage 1 :)

Oh i forget they got a red one nowadays.
Anyway, Tony could be the first in the leader's jersey since Ullrich in 2000.

Yes, if they were smart they'd have a guy like Howard, Goss or Cavendish leading them home to the line. Martin is the motor who needs to take long turns during the ttt.

exactly. no1 has ever denied he was an amazing time trialist. still i am afraid this doesn't turn him into a GC contender like you wanted to

congratulations to him for today he was by far the better man

Totally agree. Being the best tt-er is a pretty worthy title to have, he doesn't have to be a top tour rider too.
