What does Freire have that Bettini doesn't? Both have two worlds and three monuments in this century, but Bettini has won the world cup for what? three years in a row? And the OGRR as well.

Even though he did not win all his rainbow jerseys in this century, you have to be very special and TOP 10 material to win 3 world championships and 3 MSR.

I doubt we will ever see anyone else to get 3WC+3MSR

Therefore Oscarito should be on every TOP 10 list

Agree on that too

And even if part of the rider's Palmares had been achieved in the 20th century, it should be taken into account when picking the top 10

No particular order:

Lance Armstrong
Bettini
Cadel Evans
Oscar Freire
Fabien Cancellara
Oscar Freire
Contador
Boonen
Cavendish

Nibali was next in line, as so Sastre.

I do prefer riders like Bettini and Freire, one day races winners

Bettini
Valverde
Zabel
Evans

After these 9, it becomes cloudy with a host of names like
Rebellin, JRod, Mcewen, Vino, Nibali, Sanchez, Wiggins.

Nibali will be there eventually but if Wiggins' track pedigree counts for anything or if you consider that he did everything in only about 5 year on the road, I'd choose Wiggins over Nibali at the current moment.

No Cipollini or Armstrong?
Also Wiggins didn't win the Giro or Vuelta, so not everything.

Is this in random order?

Yes,would you prefer a top 10 in order? That would take me about 3 weeks possibly! :) I am still feeling bad about leaving out Vino,Simoni,Freire and others,to put them into an actual top 10 i would find extremely difficult.

The first five or so are gimmes. This is a general but not strict order.
I contemplated Andy Schleck and Petacchi for the spot given to Purito. Freire could go on here as well, certainly if his first worlds was not in 99. Guys like DiLusa, Rebellin and Armstrong stood atop many significant podiums as well.
