'3450km on a tank full of courage'

This was an ad in Lequipe?

Im glad Europcar (the company) are getting so much out of this. They made the decision to sponsor a pro conti team so late in the day and i hope it boosts business big time.

Didn't expect *you* of all people to miss this one

Plans were made months in advance beyond my control. :(
I'll probably be able to find out the result a couple of hours after the fact.

No, but it's the principle. I'd add 20 seconds extra time for every day they miss the time cut. Seems only fair to me.

So 20 seconds penanlty for the TTs sounds really harsh to me. This only makes sense if you assume riders as stong as Tony. For everyone else it would be devastating for their chances.
They should rather change the time cur rules then penalising riders in a completly speculative way concerning their abilities and the benefit they get from beiing in the grupetto.
Their must be a way to stop giant grupettos. For example they could have a rule that they take the time after every 5th rider coming in. So 80 or 90 man groups wouldn't make sense.

What did he do? (not watching atm)

Gilbert seems to be having chain problems, both feet came off the pedals as he was out of the saddle. Phil and Paul seem to think his chain came off. I was watching his body hit the top bar on his bike. He basically fell from standing to sitting on that bar. Ouch...He now seems to have sat up and is surviving to the end.

Looks like he now has a loose nut problem, judging from how he rode, after that.

It was like Armstrong after his crash on Luz-Ardiden but with both feet.

Despite Andy's big attack the other day, I still chuckled thinking that sweat looked like tears on his cheeks.

The bars on that Pinarello are disgracefully ugly. At some point, they need to penalize teams that don't maintain at least a modicum of fashion sense.

that would end up penalizing every1 that is not riding a specialized :p
