I'm going to post in the Versus thread as well, but it deserves a special place here too. Here's the previously mentioned exchange between P&P in the closing minutes of the iTT:

I went back and looked at the Tours during Lance's reign. There were 2 ITTs most years, with a combined distance of about 60 miles or more. If ASO did that for a few years now, Andy would lose 5 minutes just in ITTs.

Last week, I looked back at old TdF's going back to 1983 and they all had more ITT's in them. The last 2 at least have been made for Andy and he still fails to win. Oh well next year in the ITT, the ASO and UCI will borrow a rule from baseball and insert the "designated rider" for ITT's.

I love it. Phil bad-mouthed AC until the very end. So great that Phil's "People's Champion" didn't win.

What's funny to me is that a few years ago P & P wouldn't shut up about 'Cadel Evans' 'Cadel Evans' ..and brought his name up whenever they could.
Yesterday they both picked Andy and shunned Cadel....ha!

Well, I had a "Congrats Andy" post ready to go, but I guess that'll have to wait. It's a shame, it had a song from The Killers in it and everything :p

But, oh well, you'll all get to see it next year, but for now...

CONGRATS CADEL!!!!!!!!!!
The strongest man won the race, a truly worthy winner! It's impossible to not be happy for him. And congrats to ACF, of course!

Tony Martin, WOW!!
Alberto Contador, WHAT A CHAMP!!

And well, the Schlecks got beat. But no worries, they'll be back! :D
I just gotta make a slight change to my signature!!

Once again, CONGRATS TO CADEL EVANS!!

I am so chuffed for Cuddles.

It is amazing to someone change their mindset so spectacularly as he has.

After 2008 I really thought he would never win a GT - and if I am honest I still thought that after the Worlds.

But this year he has been awesome.

Huge respect, he completely owned in that TT.

Anyway, he's Welsh - so that makes him British right?

If the dude could just lay off the helium before the post-race interviews he would be everbody's favourite gutsy rider who climbs like a monkey going up a drainpipe.

Jobiwan, you're great. Of all the posters on this forum with a clear favorite, you are the most gracious and reasonable. I imagine that, IRL, you're a remarkably well adjusted person who handles everything with aplomb and who everyone just likes having around. You are possibly the forum MVP of the 2011 TdF--your only competition is Hitch for his amazing Alpe thread.

I may have to add a Jobiwan fan club note to my signature line.

Chapeau!

Yes, the media is going nuts!

Thank you. Everyone pretty much laughed at me for predicting Cadel to win the tour. I was really the only one who seriously thought he could.

Vindication is brilliant!

No offence but a fan predicting their rider/team to do well or win is not some sort of "clever" prediction. There's absolutely no objectivity in that, just enjoy it.

As for the media, well the Race only started yesterday if you only followed some publication! We love to latch onto a winner though.

Well done to Cadel though, this really is monumental for him

You mean how ACF always complained about those dirty Spaniards and said things like Cuddles didn't win because only he is clean? Yeah ok, you're getting what's coming to you.

Makes the Evans win sweeter seeing guys like you squirm.

What? I'm just glad Andy didn't win

I just don't think the Cuddles fanboys should cry now because people think Cuddles is doped up. It's not like they were saying anything differently to the Spaniards.

Yes it is great to see you squirm but I am going to enjoy the victory and not let others wreck it for me.

I told you all two minutes.

The greatest Australian sporting achievement since Federation.

How sweet it is.

Thankyou Cadel.

No really - graciousness is a gift. Hats off to you

Cadel did lay down the hammer very well. It was up to the Shlecks to put MASSIVE time gains into him in the mountains. Contador proved he is a legend during this TDF ripping it up on a cat 2 climb??? ( mind boggling )

Evans has definetly worked on his TT position.

Was anyone surprised how bigger gear he was using. I thought he might suffer a bit on that 2nd climb with the big gear but he actually powered very strongly on that climb.

What a great race Evans rode...a real fighter and was moving to see...congrats to all the aussies out here...I remember back when I was young, around 20 I guess and Lemond one it the first time as an american...I was over the moon and I would imagine it is the same for you...given all the massive aussie cycling talent I would say get used to it!

Is Cadel a great great cyclist? Bob's your uncle he is...
