one more parcours enthusiast.. :) it's already known ventoux is planned after the pyrenees, no? though im sure aso have already projected final parcours, so some leak, say from trimaran, the company that makes parcours clips, is possible.

I doubt that Tour will start on 29th June, I think it is fake

Edit: It really does indeed start on 29th, I'm an idiot

But there are another 3 nearer the 200 mark. Its not like the 150k stages are replacing the normal mountain stages, they are being added on top. 3 mountain stages is all that there was this year. This route is far better than anything we can hope for in reality.

What? There are 3 major mtfs in that route. Tourmalet and Ventoux are more or less the hardest mountains in the Tour and Alpe is the most legendary. Then theres Gap where Contador cracked Andy 2 years ago, a 15km tt which is Contadors goldilocks distance, and 3 other mountain stages.

The second week is horrible and imo the mountain stages should be longer.

If what you want is a good route for Contador then i dont think you can get a much better route.

with the way you want, contador will be withdrawn from the distance because of excessive desire to win.

Cant yall tell its a work when you see that the final stage is a tt?
Like that's never happened before...

That route's pretty good, the boring second Sunday stage doesn't quite jive though but who knows.

Actually, I don't think it's that strange... this being the 100th Tour, and the final stage used to be a TT.

Yup - the only guy in the top 10 who wasn't in the top 4 TTT teams got there thanks to a 15 minute breakaway.

Hardly surprising when the best riders are concentrated on the four best teams.
Wouldn't Astarloza be the only rider that would have made top 10 if you disregard the results of the TTT? (and as he tested positive a total of zero riders would have been able to put a GT top-ten on the resume if it wasn't for the dreaded TTT...)

I dont see how anyone can say those stages were 2 of the best in recent cycling history, unless we qualify recent as the last 5 years or something.
I was using the parlance of the post I was responding to. They were very good stages, but I come down preferring Giro 15 2011, Giro 19 2010 and even Vuelta 17 2012, if we limit ourselves to the last 5 years. But they were definitely great stages, even more so after the torrid race before that.

Has the Tour de France gotten stale? Yes, definitely. Is it trying something different with Alpe d'Huez this year? Yes.
This modifier "with Alpe d'Huez" is key here. Alpe d'Huez IS part of the same old stuff. They're trying something different... but making sure to play it safe by doing something different with a completely overused climb. Good that they're trying something different, sure, but it's not like they've put together a great Massif Central stage, or used a part of the Pyrénées other than the same central bit they always use, or sent the riders up a long-forgotten climb like Mont du Chat.

In 2008 stage 8 was a weekend flat stage (and stages 1 and 2 were short uphills).
In 2011 and 2012 the penultimate Sunday has been a pancake flat sprint stage too.

They should´ve finished on Hautacam (or Midi di Bigorre, for the die hards) instead of Tourmalet. For the rest i just think it's a shame they dropped the MTT

If it's true ofcourse
