"Millar ‘devastated’ after team express doubts over his form"

...and they're right, of course.

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news...lar-realised-preferred-dad-pro-cyclist-128629

^ though it shouldn't come as a shock as he prefers "being a dad" to a pro cyclist and doesn't train as hard as he used to, by his own admission. He said the same last year, but this year it would be different. He'd train harder. Yeah, no.

He should have retired a couple years ago.

unfortunately, the gradients of france climbs don't suit him at all. and knowing his luck in life, he probably won't survive the first week :( at least as a gc contender...
belles filles and hautacam as stage wins would be nice though

Now official ...no English riders in the Tour starting in England !!

And Millar not selected yet so maybe no Scots

Just a Welshman, a Manx & a Kenyan Brit so far

Strange with all the talent in England

Sucks for fans in england though I'm sure they'll still get behind Cav and even Froome.

ASO can't be happy with the likes of millar/wiggins/dowsett and so many other british riders being left out. Bizzare really.

Garmin:

Andrew Talansky
Ben King
Alex Howes
Janier Acevedo
Jack Bauer
Sebastian Langeveld
Ramunas Navardauskas
Tom Slagter
Johan Vansummeren

Thought Dennis was going...
Dennis is a mystery: he was good in California, had good prologue in Suisse and then he completely disappeared to finish 89th. Illness can surely be the only explanation for this drop in performance?
Regarding Millar, I think it was a wise decision. The teams needs new blood and guys like Howes will make good improvements when exposed to a race like the Tour.

David Millar ‏@millarmind · 41s
For the record, I was going to be ready for the Tour, so sad my team didn't believe in me, after everything we've been through. Not cool.

Millar going in hard now on Twitter :D I'm also waiting for some Cound-like assistance from his sister. She already sent out a tweet to Vaughters yesterday.

That's how professional cycling is

edit: He's already in Cound-like tweet deletion mode.

Excellent! Awesome news to wake up too, no St. David of Millar at the tour. JV1973 I'm starting to like you.

Does this mean Millar will retire mid season ? 2014 was going to be his last year anyhows, and judging by the above comment I don't think he'll have any motivation to ride any races.

He didn't show much this season but I feel bad for him regarding how this exclusion went, he's got to be feeling like **** right now.

oh no, now how can we make a film about him, taking pics of him riding le tour? noooo what a tragedy

good decision by garmin

Maybe if you weren't such a sarcastic **** you might feel for a rider who is really upset to be dropped on the eve of the Tour ...whatever the merits of his riding

We are talking about human being with feelings ....

If you wanna be a pro athlete at the highest levels maybe the message to the ever self promoting/self centered Millar is best to focus on training and recovery rather than making movies, art projects and angling for post career opportunities. No fan of Talansky but from credible decision by Garmin bike racing team in my opinion.
