Valgren: "Sagan went to hard on the climbs, which cost us in the end. It would have been better if he had taken longer turns on the flat parts instead"

Haha, TJVG with a great quote when asked about whether his team was tired from working towards the front all week and he was talking about the benefit of avoiding splits and crashes... "you know, in one way you have less energy because you've been on the front, but in another way you save energy because you don't have to grow skin back overnight".

Roche costs Sky the win, however another great day for Froome, gains more time on the other big 4 riders despite many predicting they wouldn't

Froome looks immense!
how about the 4 other riders who dropped? Sky weren't a good enough team to win the team time trial, it's pretty simple.

So Contador now over a minute down, Quintana 2 minutes and Nibali even more.

And the mountains haven't started :D

It still can be a great tour if no one of them gets dropped tuesday. Then it can be awesome otherwise you might aswell turn off your tv.

Tinkoff faster than Sky uphill.

Well they were carrying dead weight (Roche). Though as I said, Contador looked strong on the finale (IMO)
Tinkoff were carrying Basso

LOL, call it a push :D I'll be interested to read what Contador has to say about how he felt. This is the best he's looked the entire Tour. That being said, I don't think he will be strong enough to beat a super-strong Froome.

He cost them like 5 seconds. You think that will be what wins Froome the TDF over Cotnador? As far as Saxo are concerned Sky might as well have taken another 2 seconds and the win, all the extra media interviews that entails today and tomorrow. Probably more questions for Froome too about how strong he is considering how much pulling he did.

I'm calling it. Froome wins the Tour.
Beware of Quintana. Looked also in mutant form.
Also, Quintana beat Froome in the 3rd week of the Tour pretty solidly in 2013. Now he's much closer to Froome to begin with.

I think it's going to be close between Froome and Quintana. V Garderen will be 3rd

Van Garderen won't make podium.

Hahahaha that is great! Ferrari used to say that a hard crash affects threshold by 10% for a few days afterwards.

No, I don't like Sky so I would rather see BMC win.

Contador is getting those legs ready... He was in beast mode on that climb. All that no-racing in June, besides putting Quintana on his place, is paying off.

One rest day and he will glue himself to Froome's wheel until 2Km to go, until he does what he did at the Vuelta.

Difference now though is Froome doesn't need time, he has the jersey.

Froome will obviously attack, but I hope if he doesn't drop his rivals he just sits up and let's someone else have a go and he can follow wheels. They have to drop Froome after all.

I don't know that I've ever seen Froome ride smart with a GT lead. That's his only problem. He's the strongest and that's how he rides. There's a real risk he tries to respond to too many attacks and blows himself (I don't know that any one rider can blow him up).

Sky and Tinkoff had roughly the same time up the climb. Movistar was fastest up followed by BMC. Quintana and Contador will have to go on the offensive. Nibali is pretty much done on GC unless he goes ballistic on descents. would probably need to team with Contador who is the only GC guy who goes downhill like a madman, but then would have to find a way to put time into him.
