Might be meaningless to you but not to him.

Of course he should chase if he was dropping out of top-10. But 8th or 9th is such a small difference, and to try to ruin a race over that is just ridiculous.

if these UAE boys sabotage a possible berto W I'll be very disappointed. I understand that it is meaningful for them, but its frustrating to see the odds stack even less in favour of an aggressive rider going on a daring attempt. Just so someone I haven't seen step out the front of this whole race can maintain a top 10 position.

If you celebrated Zubeldia's ninja TdF top 10s you can't criticise Meintjes for chasing one. A TdF top 10 is a big deal to riders, teams, and sponsors, so teams will try to hang on to one if they can.

Zubeldia never set his team to work to protect a top 10 though. I think that's the difference. I understand the reasons behind it, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating and annoying.
