Tour de France 2017 stage 9: Nantua > Chambéry - 181,5 km

Page 70 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Overall it was a great stage, but the end result is a bitter disappointment. Dynamics of the race have changed and yet another procession for the most disgusting rider in the most disgusting team in the peloton is much more likely now than after PdBF.

Astana boys acting like Froome's domestiques during the run in was beyond ***. They should have bluffed and risked letting Bardet stay away in order to force Froome into making all or large majority of the work.

Bit stupid of FDJ to lose so many riders so early in the race!!!

Well this was the hardest stage, I think trying to get Demare across was a risk worth taking. Especially as the 3 riders suck so hard they wouldnt do anything else useful anyway
Way to disrespect 3 great and very strong domestiques. Showing your colours again.

Because I don't rate them as riders? Please Flo.

None of them could win a stage, so better to sacrifice themselves for rider that could. If that offends you, then I don't know.

Pinot is still there and could have used the help.

Help with what ? He seems too weak to challenge for KoM. And in sure FDJ DS know his numbers and watts. They must have known the risk and gambled for Demare.

Don't agree. Froome rode like a champ. Astana, wants to make time on rivals. Great stage, full gas.

"It's secondary to talk about pain. I wasn't how I'd hoped today, and that's it. I had good sensations this morning and in fact we put Bauke and Jarlinson up the road thinking about a possible attack. But then the legs didn't respond."

Have a great sense of anti climax after that ...hate to see crashes like that and strongly feel that race should have ended on the top of Mont de Chat. Its hard to see any of the others now beating Froome (unless he has a mishap)

Seem you need alot of luck to do well in the Tour and also some help...what the hell were Astana doing helping Froome ....worse tactics of the day by a mile. And Aru ..what a little sh** and a juiced up one as everyone knows in the peloton

We'll they were working to increase the gap on Quintana et all. You know their other rivals for the top step. Two weeks to go and choose another day to battle Froome, but put the rest to the sword while you can

Wait, FDJ lost their sprint train because they were all back pacing Demare and OTL?

Bit of a screw up there me thinks.

Crazy tactics by FDJ. You leave one rider to pace Demare.

I disagree. Do you know how many top sprinters have been just inside the time cut because of a bunch of domestiques working for them.
They had to go for it with Demare.
Unfortunately, it did not work out.

Suck so hard? they are riders at the tour de france. Guarneri could ride a few top 10s, and i wouldn't put konolovas to take a flat or hilly stage. You might not rate them, but come on, they would still be able to do something useful.

Quit the posturing. If you actually have something to say, reply like a normal human being.

Interestingly enough, Kwiatkowski finished at 36 minutes after doing all that work just before Mont du Chat.. imagine that, losing 36 minutes on 1 climb and 1 downhill

he waited for Majka, to help him finish the stage

Good point. These guys are pros; maybe they have a good day and get lucky on a breakaway in a flat/hilly stage.

It looks like this edition has already one winner. Martyr Sagan. :)
The one who got disqualified for breaking someone's shoulder, or the one who got thrown out for finishing outside the time limit?
I don't even know why he's still mentioned in this race, because he is out of it since Tuesday.

Shame Majka crashed but I hope he now goes for KOM. Buchmann has been kinda disappointing this Tour.

Kwiatkowski and Poljanski said Majka looks so bad after the crash that they are shocked he made it to the finish and didn't DNF already. I don't see him recovering quick enough to go even for a stage win. Most likely will try to recover and get ready for the Vuelta
