Could have won a lot of money with that podium
I know, right?

Despite being in the group and being in front of the crash none of the favored sprinters of Ewan, Bennett, Viviani, Nizzolo or Sagan even made the day's podium.

Does someone know why Stuyven keeps trying to be a sprinter? He's really more of an obstacle on the road

I was literally shaking my head when Kirby mentioned Kristoff and Bol as his favourites for today.

By the way, why did they use the helicopter cam for the sprint finish? Could barely see more than about 5 riders.

Pedersen was fast, but he swerved quite a bit towards the end. Nizzolo had to stop pedalling completely, or we would've witnessed another crash.

Looking at that finish can see a stage win for Nizzolo in the TDF, especially one of the harder type sprint stages.

Carnage on stage 1. EF seems to have emerged unscathed?
Honestly, it's incredible but I have not seen a single EF rider falling down today (doesn't mean I haven't missed one). Not sure about that final crash, though, but at least Martinez and Higuita were not involved.

Yeah, I thought about that as well. Of course the descent gets more dangerous if raced faster but everything thereafter gets a lot safer if the peloton splits
Everyone keeps talking about safety in cycling every day. Technical descent this. Wet road that. Many crashes today happened on wide flat roads cause riders are just not paying attention or because once again we must have a sprint.
