Guess Bora are not confident of dropping Bennett before the sprint

I think they waiting for the climb in 10km, right before the sprint. If anything... they might make Bennett fall far back in the peloton and then keep a high pace until the sprint. Ease up a bit. Then drop a few of the sprinters on the longer climb.

Or they just dont think it is possible. Going for the stage instead of the sprint. Not both, even Sagan will surely get some points there too.

The gap to the front 2 is now impossible to catch before the sprint, but I guess that's only extra 5 points so may not be worth thw effort

Exactly, that may also discourage attacks on the Col du Beal if there are two riders with a big gap.

Wishful thinking, but maybe some riders/teams will try it on the upcoming climbs to get in a break and tryna win the stage. Instead of it just being controlled by Bora.

Or it is an off-day for everybody but that be boring. Even though understandable from the last few stages and the upcoming one.

Raising the UCI points I think would only make sense as a response to the competition for the jersey getting stronger, not as an impulse for that.

I am probably misjudging the stage difficulty, Sagan and Bora's strength, but going hard here and pulling 20 points back is probably the easiest course of action.

No guarantee that Sagan would pull 20 points back in total if Bora takes this part easy
