Though did we ever see him really prepare properly as a GC leader, the races he lead were earlier season plus he knew he had to be ready for Tour. Shame a rider who could drop Froome, Contador etc could not make it as a GC rider

Bahrain's efforts were never going to pay off here if they did at all. The hope of pay off will be that when they hammer it on the finale that there's a lot less in the tank from JV and reeling in Landa relies on team leaders / super doms and not WVA's miraculous legs
