On the unofficial "Scale of Sorry" I still think getting blown up would rank a bit higher than not being able to go to a bike race you'd planned on going to. Not that I'd know, I've never actually been in either situation...

Just make it a rule that you can only change to the same type of bike.

A bike change from the car is also much slower than from a team assistant waiting at the side of the road. And ban the push from the team assistant.

IMO if bike changes are disallowed it's even more advantages to big teams who can just throw way more money on optimizing setups for ITTs like this. Now, shambolic as the ITT is, it's at least somewhat straightforward with the bike change

Not a fan of changing the type of the bike during an ITT. It doesn't suit well with my concept of how ITTs should be ridden. Would be more interesting to see some hybrids

Think you might as well just ban them if you're trying to arbitrarily penalise to the point that they are nullified anyway.

Yeah, I am basically banning them, but you can't have a rider unable to finish their ITT, hence my sort of disclaimer. Like, with Roglic tonight, a mechanical wouldn't necessarily cost him the TDF, but a 30 second penalty might mean that he wouldn't pretend to have a mechanical so that he could change his bike.

Uran to pass Yates 90%
Dumoulin to pass Yates 60%
Dumoulin to pass Uran 20%
Caruso to pass Valverde 20%
Mas to pass Landa 15%
Porte to pass Lopez 10%

Any other change <5%

in 2014 I drove out to watch the Tour de France and first drove up it, apparently, the road should have been shut at the bottom (It was wide open as I explained to the the Gendarmes at the top who went apoplectic!!!) the next day rode up it Argggh! I am not a pro and not even a top club cyclist and I would not want to have to do a time trial up it as we all know it gets very very steep towards the top but when you see it! I would NOT like to have to ride an ITT up it.

I don’t think there are any rules governing armbands, only the actual champions jerseys. I mean, it doesn’t make sense for them to do it as they were never World ITT champions but I don’t think there’s a rule prohibiting it?

Powless did really well, but I think you have to at least get closer to winning a stage. Just my opinion of course. Rolland was never close.

Love Ala as a rider but I don’t want him to benefit even more from partial judges than he already did.
