This Tour once again proves, if there needed to be any proof, to never ‘tactically’ give up any time to rivals, whether to avoid the yellow jersey or because you stake out another rival. This Tour was lost today and on Stage 8, just like Nibali stupidly lost last year’s Giro

Well deserved. Not feeling bad for JV and Roglic at all. Should be a lesson for future GTs. Never celebrate to early, never gift time to opponents, always take time when you can.

Roglic was 11th over the climb, this is actually a choke.

He’s 5th on the stage, you can’t call that a choke.

Pogacar beat the best TTer by 1 minute 21 seconds.

It’s an insane and unbelievable ride.

Updated list of Roglic performances in third week Grand Tour ITT:

• Tour 2017, stage 20: 14th, lost time to Froome, Contador and Uran among others.
• Tour 2018, stage 20: 8th, lost more than a minute to Dumoulin and Froome.
• Giro 2019, stage 21: 10th, lost time to Nibali among others.
• Tour 2020, stage 20: 5th, lost almost 2 minutes to Pogacar (and likely the Tour).

I still don’t understand. Did Rog burn out from previous days? Doesn’t seem like it but for whatever reason he bonked bad here. Should have been at least 2nd or 3rd in the TT but finished outside top 5. That’s pitiful for how he was riding. He had to be feeling bad.
