Can Herrada catch Lutsenko? Would be so cool if he does a Madrazo.

Though, he hasn't been hit by his car, so I'm not sure it would be a true Madraza.

the problem with the TDF compared to vuelta and giro, is that riders fear losing more than they hope to win. it is just too important to be top ten.

That must seriously hurt - GT winner not even that long ago and now not even a top 30 climber in any GT. Hell, Aru climbed the climb slower than Lutsenko/Herrada. He would not even stand a chance to get a stage from a break...

I honestly don't understand why none of the secondary GC teams try something on a stage like today.

People like Porte, Mollema, Bardet, Mas, Martin, etc.

A lot of GC captains are riding injured, and not putting pressure on them in the first week, will allow them to recover without losing time.

Because most of the guys probably has a lot of respect for Saturdays stage. Why put in an extreme effort to gain only 20s-30s today. With that stage coming up, where you can lose 10 minutes on a bad day.

I think there is way too little talk about how Bernal was looking mediocre at best for two weeks in last years Tour as well and only even got into the position to take yellow in the Alps because nobody capitalized (and probably because Pinot, the guy who should have capitalized DNF'd anyway).
And I have the feeling they might be making the exact same mistake again. Yeah Roglic looks great, he has the TT still to come, but good luck Primoz if Bernal rides the Col de la Loze in top shape.

Yeah but last year he won Switserland instead of getting clobbered in L'Ain and the Dauphine

too conservative by the GC riders.

May as well have had a flat stage if the riders are not going to race

Looking at the way Lutsenko destroyed his break companions and is still increasing the gap to the peloton now I'm not sure he would have been caught anyway.

There are 15 riders within 13 seconds of 1st place

Surely one of them might fancy a late attack in the last 2k or something for a chance of a few glory days in yellow?
