It’s not just that it’s over 2000 meters—there are 4 km of climbing (true, not all that steep) at over 2000 meters prior to the summit. Nairo to make and go of it (and then get caught).
Hey, I had a sort-of correct prediction for the 1st time ever. (Wasn’t a difficult one to call)

they misstimed their form terribly, remember they won Romandie,Dauphine and Suisse...nobody is even close to those performances

I think it's a combination of a bunch of their guys crashing here and all those races not having Roglic or Pogacar. Carapaz is pretty much at the levels he's shown in those races. Thomas then has just spent half the race crashing so fair enough he's weaker.

Pogacar completely isolated, with three Jumbo guys in the leading group.

Uran doesn't give a good impression, in the second half of the group.

Think Carapaz should've at least tested the others, just a short attack to see if everyone is at his wheel right away. Now everyone will just stick to the Ineos train, doesn't really matter if they have the numerical advantage
