BEX is in an awful situation now.
They've got the right guys in place for the stage that's in it, and they're over the toughest climb of the day. Matthews can sit on and Jensen keep the group together. It's not in the bag, but it's bag-adjacent.

Someone at EF heard that JV was the biggest threat to Pogacar, they just thought it was a different guy.

Yeah, it looks much better now, but at the time both Juul and Matthews were close to being dropped.

I completely agree, and it looks a bit like CJJ hasn't got back on? And if he does, he might be with Fred Wright, so if he rejoins, Colbrelli gets a teammate back too.

Just as I post, Juul Jensen zips past the moto and links up with the Bling group.

such a shitty tour... gc battle non existing due to the crashes in pointless stages, most of the stages are poorly designed, no real battle in sprint stages too, polka dot is still interesting but that's too little to get me hooked. meh. sorry for the rant.
If it is a rant, Red Rick will approve! :tearsofjoy:

Having said that, as stated in the Tour de France route thread, this has to be the worst third week design in forever! It is just so poor. There is nowhere to do anything different but stinky trains.

Holy... I just found out that Andre Darrigade is still alive at 92 years old. Someone ask him what he thinks of Cav's record.

With the two harder stages coming up, I doubt much would have happened regardless.

Not planned before the stage, but that moment when the peloton was split and the second group with most of Pogacar's helpers was almost a minute back... If they had believed in their chance they surely would have tried... and in the process more riders would have dropped... maybe a new situation would have arisen...

But Pogacar would still not be in trouble, because no one would have dared to attack him at that point, unless one team had more than one GC option.

If Konrad makes it, it would be a tremendous ride. Last austrian Tour stage winner was Totschnig, which was also a great ride.
