Was it a deliberate fall? Or is he just not able to ride a bike?
Going for a gap that wasn't there and then not able to handle his bike when he rode on the grass. The Danish commentators think he also crossed wheel with the rider in front of him.

Thanks to Alpecin and DSM going for a sprint I can go ride in the sunshine and watch Cav win later, rather than get drawn into watching a big fight for the break. Cya!

Those blockades should be penalised imho. So sick of them.
If a team had gone to the front to keep a higher pace, they wouldn't be able to do it. You can't both expect them (UAE etc.) to pull the peloton and also to go faster.

Enjoy. I'm stuck inside but got plans for tomorrow and Glasgow Fair on Monday.

Noone wants to chase early. Strong riders at the front. They will have to work hard for it at the bunch.

The Pyrenees and 3 weeks of racing certainly have tired out the bunch, but this just doesn't feel right.
Maybe a two-act stage.

Julien Bernard (Trek-Segafredo)
Jonas Rutsch (EF Education-Nippo)
Simon Clarke (Qhubeka-NextHash)
Franck Bonnamour (B&B-KTM)
Georg Zimmermann (Intermarché-Wanty Gobert)
Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious)

So far it's Alpecin-Fenix pulling the peloton, at the moment 4'20'' after the break.

Thanks Pog, Alpecin and DSM for another *** stage. UCI should make rules for this kind of BS as in road-blocking not "supertuck".

That's underwhelming.

Pogacellara trying to neutralize the stage.

Pog: "Where are you guys running off to?"
Ineos guy: "Oh just up the road a bit"
