I dunno, New riders will emerge, routes will be adjusted, teams will adjust tactics.

It's not like he's a boring rider either.

anyyway, stage win on offer. Will Poels unchained climb faster than even Pogawatts?
How do you adjust a route to someone who smashes everyone on both the TT and the climbs? Unless ASO wants to make the BinckBank into a three-week race there's nothing to do if this is the new normal.

The fear will be that either UAE assemble a superteam around him, or one of the other superteams sign him, taking away that element from him. Remember how excited people were by Sebastian Vettel in 2008-10, vs. how bored they were by him collecting fastest laps as he drove around unchallenged in 2011-13. So long as he's the best rider but doesn't have the team around him, he can maintain popularity as he will have to continue to ride with panache to overcome numerical disadvantage (take Sagan vs. the DQS ensemble as an example), but if either UAE use him to assemble a monster squad or he signs for an Ineos or a Jumbo who have a monster domestique squad to back him, it will swiftly lead to antipathy.
