I remember reading some recent analysis on how in modern cycling there weren't big gaps on the climbs.... new era I guess.

First post. And only moved to do so because of what I’m witnessing. Truly awful implications for cycling. This is a day that will go down in infamy. I had truly hoped that cycling was mainly free of this crap, but it would seem not. What we are witnessing is an absolute insult to our intelligence.

I thought that the L'Etape du Tour was cancelled this year due to the pandemic.

But ASO planned this very poorly, it's amateur at best to let the timetables clash and the first pro need to overtake all the granfondo amateurs.
I was surprised Annemiek let the break get so far away before she dropped everybody like that.
