Damn, I have money on Pogacar as today's winner. I really thought his ego would want the victory on Granon. And will be happy if Vingegaard wins instead. What a clown I'll look like when Van Aert wins.

Why would you not set a decent pace up Télégraphe if the plan was to isolate Pogacar and attack on Galibier?
Because the full ascent is 1½ hour. They would only have Benoot to do Télégraphe, better to concentrate their effort on Galibier (which is plenty hard on its own). And the bigger the gap to the break, the easier Van Aert can pace himself when he waits.

Sure, but I have seen Ineos pace climbs like this considerably slower. I actually still have nightmares about that stuff.
Yes, and how many times did another team end up blowing up the race early when Ineos was setting that kind of pace into the second half of the stage?
