Great stay. Great show Vingegaard. But even more so good to see Bardet, Thomas, Nairo and even Gaudu and Yates showing flashes of good legs today.

Also, we're barely into double digits and there is always the chance of misfortune but the 11th place legit GC rider right now is Louis Mentjes at 19' 17''. Again, stuff could happen -Adam Yates really taking one for the team, Pogacar could drop out- but this is the most sorted I remember the GC being since the days of the 50km first week time trial.

The stage is set. The sauce is bubbling. Good lord we need some satellite riders over the Croix de Fer tomorrow.

Once in four decades seems to be the perfect measure for Col du Granon. Featuring exactly as it should.
No overuse, no publicity gimmick, no trademark. Just perfect.
Gamechanger.

That would be good.

But it's ASO.

We will now see Granon once every 2 or 3 years until they eventually discover some gravel path nearby and finish at the Col de Super Megranon

Not in the league of Froome on Finestre.

That was the other epic stage of the century, saw that one unfolding live too.
Difference was that Froome, despite coming from behind, was the top dog in that field. Today we saw the dethroning of the champ who was supposed to be invincible, like Indurain in 96. Always a spectacular sight.
That being said, Finestre was even more spectacular to watch, but this comes damn close.

Not much Van Aert has ever helped Vingegaard - neither in this Tour nor previously. Maybe it's deliberate.

So when Van Aert brings back Vingegaard in the Cobbles stage he is not a good team member because he left Roglic and when Van Aert brings back Roglic he is not a good team member for leaving Vingegaard. It looks like he can only be a good teammate if he clones himself.

I guess GC is kind of important, but if Jumbo hadn't attacked on Telegraphe and Galibier then maybe Van Aert could have won the stage and gotten more Green Jersey points? Only three minutes gained on Pogacar which is unlikely to make much difference by the time we get to Paris.

Let's see how Vigo handles yellow. Pog will lay it on the line tomorrow. V will have more interviews and a lot of excitement in the bus. But JV is a professional bike team and I'm sure they'll make sure V gets sleep and fuel.

Congratulations to Jonas Vingegaard for winning the stage and taking yellow.

From cycling fan point of view this was a beautiful stage. Usually we only talk about riders and teams doing something like that. Today all that happened.

From Slovenian point of view. As a big fan of Roglič i am rather sad he is now out of GC contention. Although i already accepted that on stage 5. From Pogačar point of view. He can still gain time back on this race. Hence let the best man win. As Slovenian i would rather see Pogačar to win. But if this is Jonas Tour so be it.

Roglič > Pogačar > Jonas is how i would value the overall win the most. But as said let the best one win.

Pogacar is human after all. Good to see Jumbo ask Pogacar some serious questions and ask them in the right order ! The elephant in the room ..........no, the other one is is Pogacar ill or was it just an off day. Since he podiumed the Vuelta he rarely has off days. Apart from the superb winner, nice to see Quintana and Bardet up there again. I still think Bardet was heading for a podium in the Giro before he dropped out. Ineos are thereabouts without being too convincing. Depending on what happens with Bernal, it seems they will be pinning their hopes on Carapaz for any grand tour victories in the near future.

Love this. I really dislike boring procession tours with a patron like Indurain, Armstrong, Froome or Pogacar striking a decisive blow in the first mountain stage and then a procession towards Paris where the other riders are too afraid to attack.
Vingegaard brought it to Pogacar with a massive hammer blow. Helped by his great team. If today taught us anything, it is that a tour winner needs a good team.
While I hope for Vingegaard to win the Tour, it would be great for the Tour if Pogacar will try to strike back. If I were Jumbo, I'd try to finish Pogacar off tomorrow. If this was a mere off-day, he is still very dangerous at two minutes back.

I think tomorrow will be the toughest day regarding time limit since it starts uphill very soon.

Tomorrow might actually be the last real danger day for the sprinters, I don't think the flat-start days in the Pyrenees are going to get someone cut unless they totally crack the instant the road rises.

Had we ever seen Pog at a really high altitude before? I always expected he could get dropped by the likes of Jonas, Hindley, Superman, Bardet etc on something like Stelvio. But I didn't believe it until I saw it.

Not doubt about It,

Lot of time analyzing cycling by myself...It was clear and It was what had happened...you cant set the pace with Vingegard at your wherel if you know Vingegard is better in long climbs than you. He just had to follow Vingegard, becouse Roglic didnt count after his crash. And if he takes 3 minutes, you hace Majka to work

The race is not finished, Pogacar has an extratospheric recovery and is very good in medium mountain stages...the only problema is now is his team is clearly weaker than Jumbo.

Tbf if Vingegaard is stronger in longer climbs and Pog also suffers in the heat like some say than it could be over after tomorrow if Jumbo go hard on Galibier (as they should if they can). We also have stage 18 with a bunch of long hard climbs
