Bit disappointing this has settled down completely before any climbing. Thought we might get some secondary break battles on LdM but might be a procession now.

Just tuned in for a short lunch break.
I don't quite follow TJV 'tactics' - IMO this is not the method of breaking Tadej's armor.
Only idea that comes to me is if TJV and WvA times it at the summit of Galibier
But UAE can obviously just mitigate to Tadej's tempo and ensure that TJV 'tactics' fails.

Ive been waiting for this climb to return for many years. In 1986, I was too young to understand how difficult climb it was although I remember how transfixed I was watching LeMond and Zimmermann pulling away. It wasn’t til years later that I realized that some Climbs disappear for decades and how special it was.

Kinda surprised to see Bora putting their best Rouleurs into the breakaway, but whatever.
Bagioli has never shown anything on 10min or longer climbs in the pro ranks.
Fingers crossed for Wawamania to make a comeback.

Télégraphe starts with 80 km to go. I wonder how big a gap the break will get before it starts, probably less than 6 minutes? So depending on how fast it is paced (by Ineos most likely), the break could be somewhat neutralised.

If the break has a big enough gap this could be very dangerous for UAE. You don't want Laporte and Van Aert pulling one of your rivals on the Galibier descent. That's a place where huge time gaps can open up.

Pretty straightforward tactics if you ask me. You send one or two guys in the breakaway in case Vingegard and/or Roglic catch up, then you attack with other riders and make Pogacar sacrifice all his domestiques so that he's isolated early on.

*prior to Dauphine.
His level there was promising, although he's been ill in the first week so hard to imagine him doing well today.
Yeah, I kinda forgot about him climbing a lot better than Cattaneo in the Dauphine...
