Eurosport's 'breaking news' just now re the UAE Team Manager, delivered in a very sombre tone, extolling his 20 years in role and being seen recently as yesterday on TV genuinely led me to believe he had died.

But no, 'tested positive for covid'

Pathetic, and what a future we're leaving for our children.

Anyway, Pidcock's descending there is one of the many reasons I've fallen in love with this sport and just want to say Fabio Jakobsen must have ice in his veins to come back from that assault (not accident), kudos to the fella.

JV should just let the break ride away it it. In case Vingegaard isn't the strongest today, it's risky to have the time bonuses in play. And if he is the best, he will still have a chance to increase his lead. Kruijswijk/Roglič aren't likely to podium either, so allowing Pidcock to move up shouldn't bother them too much.

An elite athlete, among the fittest men on earth, has just ridden for 200km, at average speed of 45mph, up and down mountains, is then told at the end of the race he's ill
