I think Philipsen only has 1 guy left in the bunch (and that's his leadout so), maybe DSM could ride for Dainese. Also Wanty could start riding for Kristoff.

Groenewegen saying before the start they can't be the only team to control this stage but then they don't help Lotto and Alpecin chasing till 40k before the finish lol.

They are a joke of a team, they deserve to be relegated, I would only feel bad about Simon Yates if that happens. The break will never be catched

When this thread started I was going to post something like "Flat stage, how will Uran arrange to lose time" but I didn't because I didn't want to be mean. However, Uran didn't disappoint.

Didn't realise Kristoff was still there. Agree it's pretty sad that both teams aren't helping. It's not like either of those riders are going to have a better opportunity than this to shine.

I suspect there was on-the-road management issues between BEX and Alpecin - BEX had a rider in the secondary group which Alpecin chased down, so BEX who have a stage win may have decided that Alpecin needs to bring back the break - This often happens in races - Anyway at least BEX have made it exciting for the remainder of the stage.

I mean, the ideal scenario would have been cat-and-mouse all the way to the line, like Cort's final stage win at last year's Vuelta. Might have happened without the Ewan crash too.

Let's see what today's final will bring. :) But really, anything else than 100 kilometers of knowing that a breakaway will get caught is good for me.

I think the typical break of smaller teams would probably be caught in this scenario, but I don’t see how these 3 BEX guys are going to take 2 minutes back from those big engines/superior rouleurs in this break, even if they have been out front all day.

Ed. Ricco beat me to it :)

Getting over the cat 3.
I think Groenewegen couldn't go much quicker, so it made sense. No idea why they are not using Mezgec and Schultz as well, though - both are still in the bunch. It could have made the difference. Now it's too late.

Edit: okay, Mezgec is working now

Kristoff was dropped earlier in the race, not feeling great. DSM probably only cares about DSM. Tbf beating Groenewegen is pretty hard for them anyways.
