The big differences for the first riders in the stage gave the impression that the Grupetto was going to have problems making it within the time limit. But actually the QS pressed very hard to keep the distance close with the break away to be all close together before the Col d'Aubisque. This and the fast start is what killed the climbers and probably helped the sprinters to make it within the time limit. IMHO.

I had him fro teh podium and I think he would have got it if he hadnt crashed and been ill

What illness did he have? He has bounced back very well on Pyrenees from his crash.

He would have fought for 4th, I would say. Thomas was probably too good for him.

A stage for the ages. More admiration for a tattered but undaunted Pog. Chapeau to Jonas. It's finally in the bag if crashes don't screw things up.

The crash clearly took it's toll on Pogacar today, it's a shame we didn't get the battle we wanted on the last climb but I don't think it made a significant difference to who is in yellow in Paris

Pog's huge accelerations on the penultimate climb took theirs toll. Probably he would have been closer without the crash but it didn't change much regarding their GC situation, methinks.

we finally saw Jonas going all out... what a display of power, and what a display of integrity waiting for Pogacar after he chanced it so hard to get Jonas to crash on downhill and Jonas almost did crash while Pogacar clearly trying to profit from it and fair enough..
what a champ, well done Jonas Vingegaard.
I ll be banned if I say what I think about this post

That was a great Tour. (okay, it still is but you know what I mean). Great stages and good battle for the overall (thank you, Tadej!!), despite the disappointment with the overall route

Very well deserved win by Vingegaard. He showed already in stage 4 that he was a real deal. Honestly, I had a feeling that he could go with WVA if he didn't have glue mode already. Thanks god he didn't fall. Pogacar gave us a great battle, however.

P..s. Gaudu has a great pacing. If Pig was doing that on Galibier)Grannon, he probably would've been much closer to Vinge ----> wouldn't attack that much --->might have been much fresher and gave us a suspense for the TT.

P.s. 2: As I said 2 weeks ago, 4 seconns won't decide the Tour. Don't rush to slam WVA/Jumbo for not waiting for Jonas. We've had a memorable Yellow jersey win and afterwards he was a great asset to Vingo.

P.s.3: I wish we could have WVA and Pog in the same team for a season. With their willingness to attack everywhere, we would
probably get some of the greatest stages of all time

For the Danes:

Emil Axelgaard, the least Danish-hyping being on Earth, had the following sentence to accompany Jonas' crossing the line:

"En idrætspræstation, der får alle til at stå op, alle til at klappe. Selv baskerne overgiver sig, og jeg gør også. Kys til Jonas! Kys til Danmark! Det her, det er noget, der vil noget."

Exactly the same words as Jørn Mader 26 years ago on this very same mountain.* I really got the chills reading that.

And by the way, what are the chances that Vingegaard seals the deal on a stage finishing on Hautacam but ALSO going over Aubisque where Michael Rasmussen got the job done before everything that happened after? I know Vingegaard probably doesn't want to be associated to those two but it is quite remarkable.

*Mader might have said Bjarne instead of Jonas.

Great stage, Vingegård and Van Aert were completely bonkers again today and Kuss was not far off. Pogačar still almost two minutes ahead of his next GC contender on the stage but lose more than 1 minute to Vingegård is a good recap of the Tour, he was clearly the best of the rest but Vingegård was one step ahead in the mountains

When does he get to target the Giro then (which also gives a better shot at the Vuelta)?

If he won 3 in a row everyone would say that he has to go for 4, then 5 (and then seek revenge/redemption after losing). When does it end?

Should he get his revenge next year, then there's perfect opportunity to change the approach and focus on other GT's even if for just a single season. Both from sporting perspective and in terms of the legacy he wants to leave behind.

TJV is also lucky that their tactics just works when they need them to.

Perfect executed stage.

Pog is an amazing athlete and he died with his boots on today. What a champ.

And big ups for Jonas toobut he stated he is winng for his girlfriend and daughter. Bollocks statement I think. He should fire them and go live solo in some rural mountains only to train for next year's TdF

Unfortunately, Geschke seems like the biggest loser today, no? As it turned out, he would have only needed 8 KOM points today to tie Vingegaard (i.e., just a top 5 on the first climb), and you have to think he could have won one of the remaining three Cat 4 climbs.

People were complaining about Pogacar's luck early in the Tour combined with him looking the strongest, but it flipped when he started losing key team mates, especially the unlucky way Majka went out, and today where Vingegaard narrowly avoided a crash while he went down and got bruised enough to take the sting out of his performance

And Jonas: 1)didn't spend time looking back for Pogacar 2)didn't leave the finish to a sprint. Maybe those other 2nd places won't torment him, now.
Good job to Sepp, again.

Peak Roglic would have lost 3 mins today. Turned out to be a great move to not drop everyone back in the cobbles stage.
I have to agree with this, he should tell his wife (I assume) to hang on for a moment while he takes the time to acknowledge his rivals effort properly

Yeah, this has happened multiple times. Pretty unbelievable. Look at the contrast here. Pogacar has just lost the Tour and yet look at his smile. Vingegaard on the other hand...

You can use conversation if you have something relevant...other than that.. no reason to get triggered and land this "ban" you seem afraid of, and not least if it's in lack of fitting perspective.
// nevermind just took a look at your narrative, quite clear which way you wanna take it at every step.

You can even save them..
