The plan is not for Wout to win the stage. They are going to make the climb hard so it's difficult for Pog to jump and gain time.

As if Benoot pulling on that flat sections makes it more difficult for Pogacar to gain them. If they didn’t chase their the advantage could have grown with +1 minute.

Wout could have won the stage, and it wouldn’t have mattered much for Vingegaard vs. Pogacar the way I see it..
