I disagree. I think it's the perfect ending to have a procession and then hot it up and crown a sprinter on such a prestigious stage win. It is great drama and closure.

I'd much we had 21 actual stages in the Tour like the other 2.

If the Giro and Vuelta ends with mass start stage, it's also mainly a procession with a sprint in the end.
A few years ago, someone proposed during the last stage of the Vuelta.

Ya Vuelta has got into a habit of it but I remember them doing final stage TTs. Giro has been doing final stage TTs for a decent bit too I think.

Like I've been at this stage and it's a fun stage to be at (although you have to be there ages early to get a good spot), but it's a meh TV stage imo. They should at least change it around every now and again as it gets a bit boring.

I feel time trial on the final day is good when there is win to play for. But if not then I think mass start parade is better. And obviously it's impossible to know which one it is when the race is published.

it is an actual stage. Yes the procession at the beginning is largely ceremonial but the end is all out peddle pounding racing. I actually love the stage!

Well, the Vuelta was a final stage TT last year, but of course it didn't make much of a difference in terms of GC. In 2020 it was a sprint.

Wasn't too long ago you had Boassen Hagen, Hushovd, Kristoff etc all winning stages. They'll be back.
