That is the nature of flat stages in the Tour de France.
He's getting frustrated, couldn't do anything there. Once he went to the inside and WVA and Sagan moved across there was nowhere to go. I think Ewan just needs to get to the outside and find some clean air. His acceleration is so good, that he doesn't always need to come off wheels to win but of course he still has to time it right and not be too far back.
The commissars might relegate WVA as a message to the sprinters to hold their lines.
Sagan has had to use his incredible handling skills 2 days in a row to avoid crashing after riders have swerved into him. Wasting energy when he should be sprinting for the win. What we saw today was almost as bad as that fateful finish in Tour of Poland
They have to relegate him. It wasn't a really really bad move, but rules are rules. If he would have been clearly in front of Sagan it's another story, but Sagan was trying to pass him at his side.
The RAI commentators, Stefano Garzelli and Francesco Panchani, doen't agree, but I think they are wrong.
I had to finish watching on delay but WVA did NOT keep his line at all. He moved what, a meter or more to the right? Too much IMHO

Groenewegen was undoubtedly the strongest rider when you consider he was held up by the crash with 9kms to go and the team had to work hard to get back to the reduced peleton.
I think I saw Sagan pat WVA on the back a little further up the road after the finish, so there are no hard feelings from Sagan. He's the best.

Uh depends on what they pay for him. But so far I think he's not reliable enough at all to be a sole TdF team leader.

Its possible that the next big group sprint is stage 19 oder stage 20. Stage 19 isn't really safe, too, because its the last chance for some breakaway riders.

Don't know what other option they had. Stage hunting doesn't seem to be their thing except for Yates who rode the Giro and Matthews isn't the answer.
