Who are Alpecin riding for? Van der Poel seems totally out of it and I don't see Philipsen contesting for the win here.

Alpecin thinking that either van der Poel or Philipsen can contend for the day. But they are badly mistaken. The problem for the break is that the break is too small. Alpecin, Bike-Exchange or so should have a guy in there too make it really dangerous

Sometimes it really is the riders (or just a rider) that make the race. Not a very exciting profile, especially compared to the corresponding stage 6 of 2 years ago, yet you cannot compare the level of action on the road in both.

Group 3 hasn't gotten noticably closer at all in the last 20km, and the peloton isn't going any faster than the leaders.

Ya, wonder is it a Bettiol like situation where they've decided to ride for Pogacar or are they actually dumb enough to think they've a chance today.

Just switched on and WVA on the front again, that man is an absolute machine! 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st then crashed and emptied himself riding for JV yesterday. He's like the duracell bunny.

If you include the last 2 stages of last years tour it adds two 1st just insane

Halfway through the stage, at this rate the break will win by almost 8 minutes

I can't imagine him going up the hill or even attack uphill with his shoulder (and other injuries). But as long as he's here...
If he only could make a deal with Pog and swap places, then he'd be going up that hill with no problems
