I'm almost glad Kämna didn't win, I might have done something stupid out of joy.
I haven't seen Kämna so strong on steep stuff yet. Normally you have no chance against a bunch with 1min 15sec.
I hope he looses 10 minutes somewhere and goes for stages. With Vlasov not really strong I think he can do what he wants.

That was a pleasant surprise.

  1. Vingo can give us a race.
  2. I think Pog was gapped and then furiously came back simply to not give Vingo and Jumbo any psychological advantage going forward. But, for Pog, there was a slight moment of weakness, I believe. Good.
  3. Rog: hats off.
  4. Ineos has 4 riders at a similar level (with G the best for the final TT). They have to decide whether they are going to try and win this thing (sacrificing a few of them) or go for 4 in the top ten. Do they need UCI points...? :p:cool:
  5. Both happy and slightly disappointed for the French contingent, Gaudu and Bardet. They live to fight another day, but I was dreaming of more.
  6. Gutted for Powless who rode well and kept his own pace to reconnect with the back of the group several times, but could not deal with accelerations.

If Vingegaard waits 50 more meters he wins, put a gap into Pogacar right away and only ran out of steam once he left the gravel. These Jumbo guys just love to go to early.

Shame for Kämna but he did sound quite relaxed in the interview afterwards. If he keeps this form, he'll easily be a shout for another stage. Having said that, after todays performance I'm not sure many breakaways will want to work with him.

What is this supposed to mean?

Should he have let his closest rival take the win?

What a finish! A pity that the CN doctrine doesn't allow for us to be excited about this climb.
With the original finish-line, it's a good climb that is worth being excited for. It has been overused, but it has still delivered every single time. 2012, 2014, 2017 & 2020 were all quite good for such a climb.

The gimmick gravel section significantly worsens it. Now it's all about timing the effort of the last 500 m of the climb. Sad for a good 1st category climb to be reduced to that.

Fuglsang: Better to lose 5 minutes than 30 seconds.

Brother, just call it what is is. You tried to go for the GC and didnt have the legs.

Sure you would know that better.

His answer makes sense. I still think he will go for GC but probably in a Guillaume Martin way.

Right, as if LS doesn't apply her histrionical kill it with fire memes against the regular climb as well.
