Yes. That's good. I was sure that someone will crash at this conditions.A miraculous stage, today. No crashes in the finale!

His movement in the last 3k was super. Always in a great position. Imo... it was his most impressive win in this Tour.Philipsen continues his poor string of unremarkable wins.
Yeah, Vingegaard swerving all over the road is Mr Safety. Not sure what Alaphilippe was going for tbh. Just riding in the front for no apparent reason, he was making things more dangerous. It's not like he had any team mates in his wheel or anything
The way I saw it was he was out to the left and was completely in the wind a long ways out, but did have a clear line, then dropped into his right behind Gronewegen, and after that got caught in the mix. I'll watch it again, but at a certain point he's got to be fast enough to keep himself out of the box if he's going to win. I think last years Wout would have done a much better sprint today for sure. Just my .02 of course.Wout looked to have got blocked in by Bauhaus and Coquard I think. Just got sandwiched
If God won't, Tiberi will happily do the job for him.Every time Philipsen wins god kills a kitten
Sure, but what if you are the rider most likely to touch a wheel?Smart cycling. Stay in front and stay safe.
One touch of wheels in the last couple of kilometers wipes out half the peloton. We've seen it before.
But he doesn't respect moral rules established in the peloton. I'm the first to say it is smart and safe cycling to be at the front, specially with his tremendous team but inside 3 km, he is just reckless and doesn't respect sprint trains and sprinters. We don't see Alpecin sprinting before Tourmalet, they respect gc teams. I really don't like to see Vingegaard at the front inside the 3 km.Smart cycling. Stay in front and stay safe.

And he failed to deliver so I guess he doesn't have the speed after all. But at least his body is in the frame to show how much faster Phillipsen is than the rest.Yes, and?
It's not just about the time. It's about staying upright on the machine. A wreck means injuries means a potential end of the Tour. There is not a moral rule. No one else is complaining that Jonas is at the front, taking care of himself. But he doesn't respect moral rules established in the peloton. I didn't say anything about Vingegaard but at least he had a reason to be in the front.Yeah, Vingegaard swerving all over the road is Mr Safety.
So what exactly do you want White to say?And he failed to deliver so I guess he doesn't have the speed after all. But at least his body is in the frame to show how much faster Phillipsen is than the rest.
But I was talking about Vinge and Ala, in this case.I didn't say anything about Vingegaard but at least he had a reason to be in the front.
But he isn't safer at the front inside the 3 km, the risk of crashes is higher because we have a lot more touches and fights for positions than in the middle. Stage 4 is a perfect example of that, sprinters and leadout sprinters are crazy and sometimes reckless. It's not just about the time. It's about staying upright on the machine. We'll have to agree to disagree. But he isn't safer at the front inside the 3 km, the risk of crashes is higher because we have a lot more touches and fights for positions than in the middle. Stage 4 is a perfect example of that, sprinters and leadout sprinters are crazy and sometimes reckless.
I know there's the crash but Merlier is faster than Jakobsen anyway imo. Should have been brought. Then tbh as good as he is at what he does, Declercq isn't really needed here and Devenys isn't good enough anyway. Could have brought a Scmid and Hirt instead just for attempted stages winsConvinced that if quickstep came here with a different squad they would get more out of this tour than what they've got.

That was MeeusGreat win for Philipsen - perhaps I mistook the green jersey but at one point I thought he was right up against the barriers on the right hand side of the road. To pull it back from there was extremely impressive. Need to watch again to make sure I'm not mistaken though!
Rewatched - still impressive but his positioning was actually pretty great throughout. The "green jersey" I'd confused at the time was some guy with a specialized helmet doing his level best to crash 3 times in the last 750m!
I don't care what he says but if I were him I'd make an excuse that wasn't immediately falsifiable, like I dunno, "Jasper is a better climber so he's feeling less fatigue than Dylan by this point, but we'll keep trying." Fatigue is invisible, speed is quite easily observable. So what exactly do you want White to say?
I don't know how to respond to this. I probably should've seen it coming. Mea culpa! If God won't, Tiberi will happily do the job for him.
Matt White:
Groenwegen isn't going to get a better position or leadout than today.
