I already said this one time but Benoot in the front is making him useless. He has an awful sprint and can't really outclimb all riders.

peoples trying to explain away the bad decisions of belgian pozzato. hes just tactically imcompetent. its why he has the one-day palmares of pozzato and not sagan. i dont know if he knows the word 'guile', he just hammers watts to attack the pelton at random times and gets swarmed by the more well-timed counter attacks

If AG2R drops the gap to 2 minutes or less, we'll see attacks from the GC group on the last climb.

Is AG2R riding to protect Galls 16th place?
I don't know if it's correct but PCS states that Kuss, Meintjes, Buchmann and Landa are all in a group behind the peloton so if they can take more time on those dropped guys he's going to make a nice jump in GC.

Any other sport where a coach deliberately doesn't want to preserve their team's strength for the upcoming days of competition just because they didn't perform as expected on a particular day?
No, its a smart move by AG2R, Kuss and Meintjens are down, while Pinot and Martin are up front. Thats a potential of 4 places gained in Paris just by doing this.

You are just mocking him of course he is not a belgian pozzatto at all but I must say you are right in one thing, WVA is tactically inept and this is not good because his main force is being a classics rider.

yeah. But if Pogi can drop him here on these climbs, then Jumbo probably needs to settle for 2nd overall anyway and focus on stage wins.
It’s been a hard classic day, if Vinge does get dropped they just overestimated his ability.

I suppose you are right. And there is also the question of:
-Where else are they goin to use their team?

UAE or Jumbo will take charge on the big mountain stage, AG2R aren't taking the sprint stages.

Campenaerts shouldn’t have focused all these years on TT. I’m liking his last classic years and now even climbing better. Threw away half of his years for a bronze medal or so.

I previously said the police need to be checking the hard-drive of that lunatic AG2R DS who has a tattoo of them winning the teams classification, but if they bring this back and there's a big GC battle I'll consider revising my opinion of him.

Again, the moment Pinot jumped, WvA had orders to kill the pace in the peloton and just let solo riders go.
He could have followed, but then he would have dragged each and everybody to the breakaway, and this would have dropped guys like Laporte, so JV would have had low numbers and no control.
In a finale with a Pogi attack and no break formed, this would have been very undesirable. They decided Benoot is good enough to have someone in the break to help out if necessary (if Pogacar goes on the last climb and Jonas is dropped / needs help to pace until the finish). They aren't counting on Benoot winning this.
