If he attacks earlier, Vingegaard catches him back.

Pogacar always has Vingegaard beat on kick, but not if the effort becomes longer than 1-2 K.
And he (we) will never find out unless he give it a shot sometime. What an accelaration he launched - that was perfect. He looks sharp and the stages to come will be interesting.
He did do a lot of looking back in the last 100 meters and maybe should have kept his focus on gaining more time. This tour might be decided with only a small margin.

People think this was bad for UAE?

This was close to absolutely perfect. They prevented Jumbo from doing anything and let Pog expend effort in the most efficient way.

Don't get me wrong it's pretty boring, but they've been burned once and now they're just trying to eek back their advantages
I dunno. Like this was also close to perfect for Jumbo. Stage suits Pogacar a lot more than they only lost 8 seconds and UAE did a ton of work for that 8 seconds whereas Jumbo doms took a rest day for the most part

Jumbo saved their legs for tomorrow...UAE, not so much.
If it was one stage where they could control it... it was probably this one.

I think Jumbo expanded a lot more energy on harder terrain yesterday. Kuss was purposefully saved... and he got to cover an Adam Yates attack today.

Guys like Bjerg, Trentin and Laengen wont be of much use the coming days. Might as well make them work today.

I don't know why people keep on saying the climb suits Pog, with the insinuation he could have taken big time here. It seems like goalpost shifting to me.

A climb is a climb & Pog is now consistently beating Vinge by a bigger margin on these types of finishes than last year. I seriously doubt Jumbo expected to lose the jersey here or anything like that.

The only reason Grand-Colombier is genuinely better for Pog is because he has a better mountain sprint.

Kawasaki super nice, so happy to seeing him grab this. Otherwise boring af, again.

Did it look like UAE were bit empty legs no? Pogi excited scared towards the end, leaving it so close to the line? Vingo had better than expected legs against that Pogi attack, I thought there would be a bigger gap. At least he was very alert waiting for that attack and reacted really well.

This Tour is gonna end up being the same as last year, where Pog "beats" Vingegaard by mere seconds on like 10 stages but Jonas takes minutes on like 2 different stages and wins the GC.
Could be, but could equally not be. We will see soon enough.

There is a risk Jonas peak has passed given how strong he was pre tour and in the first week, he may also nuke people in the massive big climbs to come
