Jumbo might set a high-ish pace trying to see if they can nip the stage. But it’s not really super Jonas suited.
Maybe they let Keldermann join the break of opportunity arises.
I think at this point in the race every stage with heavy climbing in it will suit Vingegaard. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for it, one final time.

And, if we're on the subject of German, Kelderman is a Dutch name. Keldermann would be the German version.

I've done the Schlucht / Petit Ballon / Platzerwasel combo until Le Markstein on the bike, and the Tour feminin rode this last year (Petit Ballon / Platzerwasel, not coming from the Schlucht but rather the pittoresque wine villages more North. It's a great combo for an attack all out from the Petit Ballon, but I wonder who has that ambition.
First of all, congrats! That's a heck of a bike ride.

"Who has the ambition?" I know one who does and he knows every inch of the Petit Ballon. He lives nearby and it's his last shot in his last Tour.

Alsacian is a Allemanian German dialect. Which is still spoken.

Older people from Alsace spoke German due to the time Alsace was part of the German Empire and Hitler Germany.

The Germans weren't nice to Alsace either. Especially not during the Nazi regime.

There has been a very nice TV series called The Alsacians on arte. Which was aired again at the start of the year. It documents the history of the region and the people very well.

Well surrounding places also seem to have German names, it borders on Germany so without looking it up I assume it may have been part of Germany in the past 😀
The Alsace region was intially German, upon the split of Charlemagne's realm into three kingdoms. It then went to France, went back to Germany after the Prussian-Fremch war of 1870 and then back to France after WW I.

Alsace's history is much more complicated than described, good contributions nonetheless. It started with the treaty of Verdun in 843, a middle kingdom fought over until 1945. It could have been united under Charles the Bold/Rash had Emperor Frederick III not fled in the middle of the night before Charles planned coronation. To make things more complicated, many of these areas were the subject of Hapsburgs who were Kings of Spain. Until 1678 for my homeland.

There will be a Pinot gathering mixing fanatics and locals, his people, what an ending it would be. Allez Thibaut!

Why is Voeckler called Voeckler and what is he doing in France? Because he was born in Schiltigheim which is in France. Next question is why is Schiltigheim in France...

According to Wikipedia, the inhabitants of Schiltigheim are called Schilikois in French and Scheligemer in Alsatian although Vingegaard, Kelderman, and Pinot probably called Voeckler something different on Wednesday.

(Schlucht) - Petit Ballon - Platzerwasel - Le Markstein has been a traceur favourite, mine included, and now we actually get it! Further more, it serves as last GC stage - its best use.

Obviously I had hoped for even more as Grand Ballon was rumoured for a long time, but despite the rest of the stage, I will still applaud this.
You and Red Rick actually disagreeing on something? I'll mark my calendar.
