Philipsen is the favourite but I will go with Ewan today as he has been close and the finish today is less technical.

Groenewegen needs to start getting some results too.

Didn't know there was an upper limit to how many TdF stages riders are allowed to get...
Sure there is. The upper limit for overall wins used to be 5, then it became 7, but then it went back down to 5 again, and in recent years riders have only been allowed to reach 4 (they've been compensated by being paid millions through an Israeli trust fund to NOT win again).

Finally a nice flat stage to replace the hilly nightmares of the recent days.

However, just to make up a few personal retrospective considerations of the Pyrenees.

The UAE's plans are slowly starting to surface:
Plan A: Pogi super-domestic? Didn't work.
Plan B: Adam super-domestic? Didn't work.
Plan C: Vingo super-domestic? That worked.

Cannot fathom LeTour hasn't visited Bordeaux since 2010.
If you asked me round a random corner I would've guessed quite fewer years ago since last visit.
Bordeaux being quite a cornerstone in this bike race, glad to have it back.

Though a bit worried sharpening my glasses on today's final k's.
With the exception of the avenue, apparently final slopes consists of more edgy corners not exactly of Paul Armagnac motorsports racing circuit wide corners experience.
This within the last 5k, where I assume that the 3k rule still applies. I just hope for the best for all riders!

And this one is for Alpacine, too, maybe even more than previous Philipsen stages.
Did I jinx it now?

Fun fact from the Danish TV2 commentator team:

Arkea wants to be in the break today, because the route is passing the Arkea Stadium in Bordeaux.

Pet peeve here, but YOU CAN'T PUT "MONT" IN THE TITLE OF A STAGE WHERE THERE IS NO MONT.
Ok? That's just false advertising. I don't care if that's the name of the town where it starts. Find another town.

Mark Cavendish has an unusual habit of winning stages with "mont" in the name of the start or finish town.
Montereau, Montargis, Montpellier, Saint-Amand-Montrond, Mont-Saint-Michel, Utah Beach Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, Montauban, Montélimar

Maybe he should prolong his career a year and school the others on the Montmartre hill at the Olympics.

These stages should just be sub 50k if we're not even going to get a decent breakaway. Peleton just treat them as rest days anyway for the majority of the stage
