In the link it says Gap - Barcelonnette via Bonette. The only viable way of doing that stage would have to be to pave the section between Moutiere and Bonette and loop back north that way. An other way of doing that stage would probably be too long.
Moutiere would be amazing.

But I will admit I haven't talked about it enough to claim to have memed it into happening.

I guess it would not have any significant climbs before Bonette? Col de Vars would make it ~200km. It's doable but I think the current philosophy would be "eh Bonette-Moutiere is enough"

Well, they have done/paved Portet, Spandelles and Loze the last few years. So I would assume that re-paving Moutiere and renovating and paving that section between Moutiere and Bonette is absolutely viable.

I on the other hand would also be quite satisfied if they did Cayolle followed by Bonette.

Having read the actual article, it's of course not happening, but a man can still dream.

It remains to imagine the scenario: it could take this form for example

Wednesday July 17: An arrival at Super-Dévoluy from the foot of Mont Ventoux?

Thursday July 18: A Gap-Barcelonnette stage? Some hope to see the Tour cross the Col de Moissières for the first time...

Friday July 19: An Embrun-Isola 2000 (or Auron) stage via the Vars and Restefond/la Bonette passes?

There's your French version of the Gamoniteiro rumour that's never happenning.

From satellite pics, only 3km between Moutiere and Restefond are unpaved, and they're all uphill. That's only 1/3 the length of the unpaved section in Finestre. :D

I recall that according to some ASO officials Col des Champs was discarded for the PraLoup stage in 2015 because of the bad road condition, and la Cayolle has not been used for along time for the same reasons. But the Moutiere has a 0.5km paved descent before going uphill until Restefond, at the junction with the Bonnette road just below the turn where J-L Augustyne went offroad.

What thats Netserk, Vars, Bonnette, Moutiere and Pra Loup or Auron?

Looking at these rumours, chances are this will be the hardest 5 last days ever in a GT. I can barely see how it won't be. Jumbo and Jonas' tactic will be quite clear - lose as little time as possible going into the last 5 days.

Vars, Bonette, Moutiere-Bonnete, finish on Auron.

With this route, I expect at least a 30 km rather flat ITT similar to 2021 in week 1 or 2. I think Prudhomme wanna cater to Remco, and I also think (or hopes) he knows it will actually make for a better race if Remco gets a lead, even if Pogacar and Vingegaard are also deadly in a GT TT

Are you sure that remco gets a lead even with a TT in week 1 or 2?
I'm not even talking about the fact that there will be mountains before that first TT.

No, but in theory Remco should take some time on these guys in top shape in the first week on a flatter course. If he isn't able to do that he might as well not participate given their strength in the mountains honestly.

I hope the last Friday will be a flat stage from Isola to ~Nice, as I just don't see it play out well otherwise.

Ventoux as the end of week 2.

Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: Nyons > Superdévoluy (Manse, Moissière, Chaillol, Noyer)
Wednesday: Gap > Barcelonnette (Cayolle, Champs, Allos)
Thursday: Embrun > Auron (Vars, Bonette)
Friday: Isola > Nice
Saturday: Nice > Couillole (Braus, Turini, Saint-Martin)
Sunday: Monaco > Nice (ITT)
