I feel that we shouldn't be taking it too seriously, fans comparing crosswinds to gravel in regards to riders safety. On top of that fans in general are not all that good, when it comes to riders safety. The truth is an average fan just doesn't care, enough, about this aspect of the sport. So in the end it's not really the fans, on whose responsibility it is, to improve riders safety in the peloton. Bickering about it, when something actually gets done, that is something fans are indeed good at.

So it's an interesting dynamics, to say the least.

On meteoblue there's crosswinds of ~30 km/h with gusts above 40 km/h after Issoudun.

On Windy only one of the predition models saying +20km/h, let's see if it changes this evening.

But yes if it's 30 or even 25+ it should be guaranteed splits. Riders often say, if its above like 22 and from the righ direcion on open roads it will split if someone tries.

Flat as a pannenkoek.
Relative to scale this stage could be flatter. If the pannenkoek was 200 km wide the little dimples and bubbles could produce more elevation changes than this stage route. Somehow, years ago, someone got a legit grant to study the saying “Kansas is flat as a pancake” and discovered that a pancake the size of Kansas (a state in the center of U.S.) would in fact be hillier terrain than the physical topography of the state.
Not sure why I just wasted my time and yours writing that, but I’m going to blame rest day ennui:)
