Off-topic when gliding through Loir-et-Cher.. Time well spent is reading the book of Pierre-Henri Closterman; Le Grand Cirque. It's a true story of young French fighter pilot in ww2, he was 19 when he went in and 25 when the war ended. Superb storytelling that is easy to read, kinda sad but happy ending. No modern tech jets not yet, you just grab your Hawker Hurricane, Spitfire, or that 2400 hp gasoline Tempest and try to win the game.

I'll definitely put this on my long-term reading list. A French pilot in the RAF: sounds really interesting.

Philipsen wins the intermediate sprint.

Girmay almost into the barrier... there is literally no point trying to sprint on Philipsen's right when there is a barrier also to the right. Philipsen will always somehow just close it no matter how open it is beforehand.

Why were the commentators making an issue of whether the peloton catches part of the break before the split point. Being one place ahead of Girmay gets Philipsen one point advantage over him whether that is 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, or 15th/16th.

No? He gets three points advantage if he wins the sprint, only two if he finishes third and one if he‘s 15th.
