It is the kind of tactics you resort to if you don’t have the strongest guy in the race, so I don’t think it’s very likely either; but would be oh so great to behold.
I know. Hence me saying it would be good if that didn't happen. It's not gonna happen if Remco attacks, that's the job for the yellow jersey and his team.
That would be an ideal scenario if z Pogacar was in 2nd or 3rd, and wanted to force the yellow jersey team to chase them down. But with Pog in yellow (I think) there will be less incentive for other teams to chase. They might shrug their shoulders and decide “you want Almeida in yellow instead of Poggio, fine go right ahead.”Given that Ajuso/Almeida are 4th- 7th in the race you may as well use them as weapons. And I don't think MTF's are better suited for that tactic.
Pidcock didn’t look very good on the short climbs on the gravel stage ( barely hanging on sometimes) so he may be in break but I don’t see him as likely. Good stage for Carapaz.Either Pidders from breakaway or Rogla beats Pog in a sprint.![]()
But they run the risk of being Kuss’d if Almeida or Ayuso get to big of a lead. Then the others have to deal with Pogacar chilling on their wheel when he’s already ahead of them. That would be an ideal scenario if z Pogacar was in 2nd or 3rd, and wanted to force the yellow jersey team to chase them down. Agreed. No chance Pog lets Remco go with that final TT looming. It's not gonna happen if Remco attacks, that's the job for the yellow jersey and his team.
That tt is up, down and 5km flat. Pog may lose 10 seconds in the flat part, but will gain 20 on the climb and as much in the descent.Agreed. No chance Pog lets Remco go with that final TT looming.
And will Rogla slowly start coming into his own? Or too soon still?
Maybe it takes two Merckx-es to break the unbreakable.
Zero chance about ayuso empting himself for pog tomorrowSo will UAE empty themself for Pogi on this stage?
If we go by what happened on Galibier, Ayuso doesn't need to empty himself for Pogacar.Zero chance about ayuso empting himself for pog tomorrow
I agree it seems like a good stage for Pogacar to launch an attack—The more I think about it the more I feel like Pogacar should nuke Puy Mary. I don't think anyone will be close enough to help Vingegaard chase him down (especially with the descent right afterwards) so Pogi can essentially turn this into a TT where he can gain a large amount of time. It's probably the (medium) mountain stage suiting Pogacar the best and he has to be afraid of Vingegaard riding himself into top shape so he needs to gain time as soon as he can.
