The UCI moves in mysterious ways...No no it's more funny than that. He's not relegated at all. He's just fined and gets a UCI point penalty (which is worse than getting regelated).

Or 7 1/2 kisses.Sounds like it. 1500 as well, not a wife-kisser.
So like this: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47535160Yeah, I'd go straight up Marca and then turn right to take the same last 1.5 km as in 2006.
ofcourse they do. Van Gils is Belgian.Lanterne Rouge discussion on the crash:

In short, they put most blame on Capiots drifting towards the barriers while looking around.
That would be me but I've gathered that there was some kind of action earlier. Echelons, I guess? If you would’ve just watched the last 5km you would think it was just a boring sprint stage.
It was just insane hard riding all day. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
Sorry too little, that’s too late.100% Capiot's mistake.
He checked behind and must drift to far left immediately.
He drifted to left a little bit and there is enough space for MVG.. But Capiot drifted again without checking behind.
MVG is impossible to predict Capiot's sudden move. Collision is must.
Capiot's mistake spoiled De Lie a chance to win.
If drifting around in the front is OK, the race will be total different.
I can image drifts will be a tactic to slow down fast rider.
Vingegaard would say it's not a lack of balls, just smart racing.Tadej says they will now ride defensively in the Pyrenees. I'm not sure he will be able to do that.
I mean really he says that he can ride a bit more defensively, but also that he would like to win the stage if he doesn‘t have to do too much for it.Tadej says they will now ride defensively in the Pyrenees. I'm not sure he will be able to do that.

"We care so much about safety, but once it's convenient it's completely okay to just blast someone at 60kph"
Look left before turn left. Don't look right and turn left.Sorry too little, that’s too late.
Tomorrow will probably be a GC snooze fest with a mountain sprint. Hopefully fireworks from the gun on Sunday.Defensive Pog would be good for Remco.
But Van Gils is a big talent. Capiot is a big whatever.Capiot is also Belgian, what are you on about
Patrick isn't even Belgian.
I'll take advantage and hit snooze until the latter bit of the race. I would assume someone's gonna attack from at least 5k out?Tomorrow will probably be a GC snooze fest with a mountain sprint. Hopefully fireworks from the gun on Sunday.
michael matthews has been garbage this tour to spite me, personally, for picking him in Velogames

It's always the same. SAFETY when you can blame organizers. Say nothing when riders hospitalize each other
reckless things.
These guys just always blow the wind is blowing.Ah Red Rick and his anti Belgian feelings... always great to see.
That's apart from the fact that they are sometimes hypocritical, but today they just keep going by blaming the one who's not following his line, which they have been doing for 5 years or so. It's not cause someone crashes and someone else doesn't in a collusion that the one staying upright is always the one in the wrong, even if he "blasts" him (which for me isn't even true but ok. He doesn't have to fly into the barriers cause someone else can't ride straight and wants to look back mid sprint.
And yes, you can call me biased, I am probably, but tbc I thought De Lie came off pretty good without a DQ earlier this week (while for some reason he didn't get so much heat then).
Drifting across 1/3 of the road is not safe in that situation. I think Van Gils should have let up once he saw it happening, but when he began the move there was more than enough space to move into. Dipping his shoulder isn't really the same as a shoulder barge, either. But Van Gils is a big talent. Capiot is a big whatever.

I just don't think it was a marginal gap when he began to go for it, it was probably like two cyclists' width. He should've stopped pedalling as hard when Capiot drifted (not braked), but there was nothing wrong with the initial decision. At the end of the day Van Gils tries to take a marginal gap and had no thought of aborting the move. In every sprint riders have been blocked on the barriers and I have yet to see one try to barge themselves when they are blocked.
