Is Visma just trying to go hard on the climbs and chill on the flat or do they also want the stage?
Cause I don't see them keeping the break in check on the long flat parts.

Mas isn't even the best Movistar climber in the break atm...
Mühlberger finished with Bernal yesterday and Formolo is a specialist for long range attacks from the breakaway.
This didn't age well. Mühlberger gone already, whereas even Aranburu is still in the first group.

Maybe trying to get rid of Politt and Wellens, so UAE has to burn Sivakov/Soler on the flat parts.

One of the best things about mountain stages is getting the double drama of the battle for the win in the breakaway and the battle for the GC after that. With the way this Tour is ridden so far, we are getting less of this. At the same time, we see a lot of great riders with no GC chances wasting energy and not getting any results.
