One of the best things about mountain stages is getting the double drama of the battle for the win in the breakaway and the battle for the GC after that. With the way this Tour is ridden so far, we are getting less of this. At the same time, we see a lot of great riders with no GC chances wasting energy and not getting any results.
And because it's the Tour, the breakaway riders are usually big name riders too. As much as I love the Giro, having Davide Bais, Simone Petilli and Karel Vacek fighting it out for the stage is just not quite the same as Simon Yates, Jai Hindley and Richard Carapaz.

Why not? Vignegaard and Pogacar were on the schedule of Pantani´s record on the Joux Plane, until they eased off during the last 2km. I think they also equalled his record on the Croix Neuve in Mende. They smashed Romingers record on the east side of the Tourmalet last year and yesterday the times of Armstrong on Pla d´Adet by 2 minutes (on a climb that´s only 27-28 minutes long).
Why not? Peak Pantani would look back at the rolling shoulders of Pogacar, laugh and attack over the top after Pogacars initial attack
