And because it's the Tour, the breakaway riders are usually big name riders too. As much as I love the Giro, having Davide Bais, Simone Petilli and Karel Vacek fighting it out for the stage is just not quite the same as Simon Yates, Jai Hindley and Richard Carapaz. One of the best things about mountain stages is getting the double drama of the battle for the win in the breakaway and the battle for the GC after that. With the way this Tour is ridden so far, we are getting less of this. At the same time, we see a lot of great riders with no GC chances wasting energy and not getting any results.
So why are Visma chasing this break?
He took it easy yesterday. I guess Visma had a plan for today.Van Aert has found better legs.
Ooof, disappointing for Bernal
Why not? Peak Pantani would look back at the rolling shoulders of Pogacar, laugh and attack over the top after Pogacars initial attackWhy not? Vignegaard and Pogacar were on the schedule of Pantani´s record on the Joux Plane, until they eased off during the last 2km. I think they also equalled his record on the Croix Neuve in Mende. They smashed Romingers record on the east side of the Tourmalet last year and yesterday the times of Armstrong on Pla d´Adet by 2 minutes (on a climb that´s only 27-28 minutes long).
It is nap timeAfter this climb there's basically no point in watching the next 100kms
Oh Simon Yates showing up, first time this tour?
No stopping at the Fabio Castelli mamorial like 1997/98. Back when there was respect in the pro peloton..
So he gets some points? Very odd.
Yes, very respectful to call him Castelli![]()
That's how it should be. When Bling was relegated in the final of Flanders he should have been fifth because that was the group.
