Tour de France Tour de France 2024 stage 17: Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux - Superdévoluy, 177.8 km

Yeah, but Pogi attacked at only -1,4km from the peak of Col du Noyer.
Perhaps, at that point, the other riders didn't think they could make much of a difference compared to their 4° to 11° counterparts.

If one of the 4-11° guys thinks he could gain something uphill against his competitors, he'll have tons of opportunities to do so on stage 19 and stage 20.

The attack was 900 m from the top of the climb: https://www.google.com/maps/@44.692...umbfov=90!7i13312!8i6656?coh=205410&entry=ttu

You can also see the group pass the 1 km to the top banner before the attack.

And a nice pic

Tom Dumoulin also with his take:
Tom Dumoulin claims that Tadej Pogacar is arrogant about the attack on the Col du Noyer: “This is pure bluff, it is a pure demonstration of force. Pogacar is 3 minutes ahead, it doesn't have to at all. He does it simply to annoy Vingegaard”
While it can be reasonably interpreted as that, I also think that it was a good attack from Pogi to gain information. And perhaps to signal to Evenepoel that 2nd is in play.

What Netserk said and Pogacar is enjoying his new found freedom of not having a Visma rider glued to his wheel anytime he does anything.

That's a pretty whiny take from Big Tom. Who cares? If he wants to attack, why shouldn't he? He got crushed last year. No reason why he should feel safe, or feel like he has any reason not to keep attacking.

Agreed, he sensed some weakness and wanted to see what he could get.

Hmm...personally I don't think so. One, why? Two, how would he know Remco would be able to move past Vingo? Just not seeing that. I wonder if maybe you're putting a bit too much stock in the bromance?

Of coursePogacar is very strong, but watching at the stage again, sometimes is better to attack that to go on the chase. Yesterday motorbikes, playing a role. It is not first day this Tour and of course in cycling history, but cyclist with good aceleration are usually rewarded by motorbikes.

Happends lot of times with Contador and use to happends with Pogacar. That factor will be very small tomorrow, but anyway he is this year very strong in the hight mountains and shouldnt have problems.

Jonas is not look back at Remco. Remco will likely be down the mountain tomorrow anyway.
I don't rule that out. But in principle he should still be able to maintain his third place. Helped by Van Wilders and Hirt. Although that will be a difficult decision, Landa may not have to wait for Evenepoel. Unless Van Wilder and Hirt are already minutes behind. But if possible, they will want to protect both Evenepoel's third place and Landa's fifth place at Soudal-Quickstep. Although Landa will probably lose his fifth place in the TT

Look, what you need to do is sit the kids - or is it grandkids by now? - down and teach them about the joys of cycling! Then you'll have a win-win situation:

1. You get to watch cycling.
2. You get some quality time with the family.
That used to work just splendid!
....that is, right from age zero to 5. Now she's 9yo
and far more self-determining (as if I even got the chance?) and a completely unique ability to win the gruelling battle of the trenches for the remote control and find even more children's apps on the LG 4K OLED smartTV than the geek here has ever ventured into :fearscream::coldsweat::grimacing:
However, something strikes me - she also has a very special ability, where I find her hypnotized to the screen on a flat screen tape and sitting close to it with open, dreamy eyes - as if she is prepared to fill the commentary track with detailed information of sights and cultural info.

So maybe something to build on.

But as I wrote, busy hours round the clock work-wise and family wise, I can manage to some exctent, they seem to me like welcomed distracting joys in these years compared to what in these years really stops me sometimes...
